New roof for a MK2 Spyder

Post by Fermat »

Hello.

I have not been on here in a long time, but thought it might be a good place to get some suggestions.

I have a MK2 Spyder which would be a little happier with a new roof. The structure is OK, but the material could do with replacing as it is a little tired.

I was just interested to know if anyone has any suggestions as to where I might be able to get one made up, in or around London and the SE.

Thanks.

Hello chap, can I suggest you speak to Tom Solan at NVI Imports, I know he had a new roof made up for his spider!

Funnily enough someone posted a picture of mine on here a long time ago...

I don't have enough posts on this account, so I can't post links, but if you Google "imoc good looking spyder" you should find it. The silver one is mine.

See if that works, otherwise I will find some pictures for you.

Thanks for the info. Their website appears to go nowhere. Are they still around?

It was in reference to the old imoc post from 2006. In that post there is a silver one (mine) and a red custom car, so I was simply differentiating.

Having said that, and I accept that I might be totally wrong, I think they were available in another colour also because the original Toyota brochure shows them in red as well as silver. Although I have never seen an original one in the UK that wasn't silver, but then I have only seen three of them.

No, not guilty :-)

I am based South of London. I have seen another one on a London -> Brighton MR2 run and one near Colchester.

Perhaps its the rarity of it, makes it that more desirable

Like my mate Swiss Toni used to say, "Desiring a MR2 Spyder is like desiring a beautiful woman"

I recon they woulve sold loads of spiders if they had introduced it as a proper production model instead of a very very limited run.

They were built by technocraft in japan right?

There is a red spyder in this country btw.

Think I have Tom's email will search it out, but I actually expect there are a lot of 'custom soft top' companies around that would probably be able to help you.
