No Engine Warning Light

Post by seanred »

Hi, I have had my rev2 turbo off the road for the last year while sorting out a few problems and doing a wire tuck(I checked everything once the wire tuck was done and the management light was still working).
The car is now back together and running but I have no engine warning light, the bulb is ok. If anyone has any ideas of any tests I can do to try and find the problem your help would be appreciated.
Thanks :-k

Check the earth going to the underside of the plenum is clean and tight. Also if you have left the AFM unplugged or it is faulty the CEL won't illuminate.

To test the lamp circuit itself, locate your 22 pin grey ECU plug, that is the furthest right one looking at the ECU from the rear of the car, unplug it, and locate pin 5 which is a green/white stripe wire, be careful pin 4 beside it is also G/W, for info pin 5 is 5 along from the right where the wires enter the plug.

Once you have found pin 5 G/W, run a wire from it to ground, switch the ignition on and the CEL should light up.

If it doesn't then you have a blown bulb or wire break between ECU and dash. If it does light up then you have an issue in my first sentence.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for you replies, I forgot to mention i'm running rev3 ecu with the afm removed but the car was running and everything working fine before the strip down.
I will check that earth and clean the contact up, is the green/white striped wire direct from ecu to dash or does it feed of to anything else on the way?

It's direct from ECU to dash although does go through several connectors on the way.
