[Mk2] [NA] new springs knocking

Post by GHOST »

I got some new Apex springs put on this week, by a garage - not me. They're the 30mm drop ones, but now I'm getting a knocking over mild bumps but strangely not over harder ones.

Other details:

Standard Rev5 N/A dampers
Front wheels - 8j, ET35 with 205/40/17's
Rear wheels - 9j, ET35 with 245/40/17's

Any ideas? The car didn't knock at all prior to them being put on.

Go back to the garage and ask them to fix or at least diagnose it since it stems from their work... presumably they didn't test drive it themselves after competing the work for you?
Sounds as if the spring hasn't been seated in the spring cup properly perhaps or maybe something else just isn't tight. The springs themselves of course are one solid part so won't make noise themselves unless it's the coils hitting each other under compression... some springs come with pads/damping on the coils to stop this.

Cheers mate, I'll do that. Also, is there anything else that might have suffered strain after everything was taken apart? Bumstops or ball joints etc?
