Turbo single exit exhaust - Kakimoto/Blitz Nur/SARD

Post by JD »

I like my Mongoose and it's in good nick. It sounds lovely on full chat but isn't too loud around town. Having said that, I always thought mk2s always suited a single pipe better and I've always wanted one. I've got to be careful loudness-wise because I do want to do the odd trackday but I've made up my mind and it's something I need to do in the quest to take my car a bit closer to what I want.

Ideally I'm after one of the makes listed but if anyone has any input on these or other similar systems in terms of flow/sound/weight then please share :)

I've got a HKS hi power on mine with decat DP sounds nice but not chavvy or antisocial, only downside is that the majority of it isn't stainless steel.

Aye, Julian kindly offered me a Silent Power at a very good price but as my car lives outside I'm going to avoid any mild steel systems. HKS looks like a good bet if I can get a SS one, or perhaps get one made up as was also suggested.

I welded an extra silencer onto my Blitz NUR R which has made it a lot more civilised around town, it should also pass track day noise levels now. Some pics here http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=172721

There is only one single exit I'd go for:

Agree I love the look of the Blitz NUR R but for me it was just a bit too loud (showing my age here ;) ), with the extra silencer it still sounds great when you open it up but it's a lot more civilised at lower rpms and no longer drones when motorway cruising.

Spotted this the other day. Brand new so as long as it's looked after it should last a fair while.

Agree the nur spec sounds awesome. I have just removed mine though for something a little bit quieter.

I have a buddy club single exit to fit when my car goes back together, going to add a silencer to it at some point as it's basically just a straight pipe so no doubt stupidly loud, nice and light though :)

who won that one then?

I bid it up to £360 before deciding I didn't want it (mine's already got a Hi Power)

it went for £410 + delivery in the end

I didn't bid in the end - since you can get decent used ones for less I thought I'd wait. I'm still holding out hope for a Kakimoto.
