No, they were the ones that came out of the old engine.

Why are you running around buying bits for the engine? Why not tell YVS to sort the bits and build it for you. :?

Ahh...ok, makes more sense- I'm guessing they've been overtightened in their earlier life then...

If it was me I would be swapping ALL the rod bolts out for new ones, or sticking a set of ARPs in there....

What sort of comment is that? He has sorted the machine work. He gave me a list of things to get, so I shopped around and got the best prices.

And I want to be involved in the building of my engine because it interests me.

What do you mean, "what sort of comment is that" It wasn't a comment, it was a simple question.

From what I can gather, you're posting up threads regarding different bits and pieces for your engine to be built, and leaving it to the forum for advice.

If it was me, I'd leave it all to YVS to supply the bits and build the engine. Surely that's a much easier approach?

You can be involved in the building the engine without buying the bits yourself....

So what was the "issue" with the head?

Should have said "is sorting", the head is going off this week.

Sorry, it just read as a bit arsey.

I have probably over done it with threads, just want everything to go well and I thought real world experience (regarding pistons) was nice to know about. :thumleft:

What did he do about the snapped rod bolts? Did he have new rods, or new stock bolts?

What's the problem with your head?

I don't see any problem is sourcing parts for yourself, as long as you know what you're after and are talking to your engine builder :thumleft:

There was oil in the exhaust ports and the oil seals are to change. They can check it all over and lap (think that's the word) the valves in.

Interesting, normally the engine builder will do stem seals himself, and valve lapping. Maybe the valve seats need re-cutting by the machine shop?

Looking forwards to seeing how you get on, should be sweet once you're done :thumleft:

Yes he could do it himself but he is very busy. I don't honestly know about the valve seats?

And thanks, it should be good mate. How's yours going? :thumleft:

In which case, will need re-shimming.

Would probably have to reshim after a machine shop laps them in anyway, although I guess you might get away with it if they judge the seals to be ok and only lightly lap with fine paste...

Head is back from the engine and Simon has bolted it to the block. The cam cover will be back from the powder coaters this week as well. Just got to order a clutch, a breather seal and the seals for the injector rail and all ready to put together and bolt in.
