I reckon my favourite part of the day was my last run out in my car as once I got a bit better I paced myself against a (gently driven) 997 Carrera S - in the morning I wouldn't have touched him. I wish I'd had a different mount for my camera as these vids look awesome.

First few times out I was talking myself through every corner in detail

There was a lot of one-handed driving in that video, too

Cheers Gavin.

28th April?

£159 looks pretty cheap compared to most at that time of year, and it's the Javelin crew again :thumleft:

I'll start a new thread if anyone fancies it

How did they fair on the track? Mine have way too much tread on them anyway

That looks good to me. I'm going to aim to have the car ready by then.
January 2014
..the only thing I can promise for sure is slow progress.

May 2015
just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...

Ok so I did end up going yesterday and had an awesome time.

But I ended up missing the sighting laps, which turned out very bad for someone whos never done a trackday before. I ended up braking way too late for the chicane after the big straight and just going straight on during my first ever lap :pale: felt like a right numpty.

Then I got back to the pits and had to remove bits of undertray that i'd managed to knock off. Then I noticed the car was leaking oil and I thought that I might not be able to get back on track.

Luckily I figured out the leak was cased by a dislodged oil pressure sensor on the sandwich plate. After some tightening, checking for leaks and topping up oil the car was ready to go again! :thumleft:

I was so glad that I booked 1 on 1 instruction for this day although I was a bit tense after messing up so early and then spending a couple hours trying to fix things.

The car held up fine and the instructor was great, teaching me about weight transfer and being able to lift to sometimes bring the nose inline. I was realy impressed how my brake setup was able to cope with the high speed stuff without any fade whatsoever!

Managed to get a few laps out with my friend who came along with me and got to 4pm when my last instructor session was due. I ended up only doing about 2 laps and started messing up gearchanges, so wisely decided to call it a day there as I was starting to feel fatigued.

Amazing day, with a few ups and downs I was still buzzing when I got up this morning!

Just need to give the car a good check over and i'll definitely be up for castle coombe! :thumleft:

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot to say there was another imoccer present! In a red rev2? tubby, was having problems too but he managed to get it sorted. Sorry I didnt catch your name!
