PKMr2 Rev3 turbo....- spike

Post by pistol pete »

hi all

I have at my house my good friends Pete's MR2 Rev3 turbo
pretty standard japspeed exhaust and berk 3" downpipe, dump valve and induction

Its a little bit tired but between me and pkmr2 we will keep this thread up to date on the progress

This is Petes' Fun weekend toy make him smile car :thumleft:

some more additions to be made in the future but first off a little job thats needed doing
the boot had a small leak.. i went out today to start it up etc. and thought i would check the boot as we have had a touch of rain :-s

this is what i found..(sorry this is going to be a bit pic heavy (Due to the light and iphone as very cloudy it can be hard to see the difference on following pics)
Image

hmmm think i better sort this out..
so out came the boot carpet to dry off
Image

i did not want t drill any holes as drainage as there should not be water in there
so out came a jug and cup then a towel
Image
much better

no to fix the leak.. as usual guessing most likely cause is the spoiler holes

so off came the spoiler hmmm lid looks like the rest of the paint, a bit dull and pinky..
Image

well its easier to do now the spoilers off

i am sure you can see where this is going
clay bar, ult compound and polish and wax later.
looking shiney
Image

now for some sealant for the holes before putting spoiler back on
Image

fit the spoiler back on.. oh no now the spoiler looks really pink... okay same again and shiney..
Image
Image

oh now the bumper and light cluster looks ooo faded..
Image

and the sides
Image

Doesn't show well n this pic but tis very pinky and very faded
Image
Image
Image

well i can't have anything on my drive for long without polishing it.... so i've started now.. lets continue.. i did run out of ult compound after doing the bumper, so the rest of car has just had a polish for now and a wax to keep it going over the winter months... then as soon as its a bit warmer and have some more products i will be able to get the paint to really pop.. its a brilliant little car under there.. and if Pete looks closely he'll notice all his annoying scratches have been touched in too :thumleft:

has come out soo well

Image

shiny lights
Image

After doing one part of the bonnet you can see the difference starting to take shape

even managed to get a reflection on the front bumper

It was almost dark when these finished pics were taken so doesn't show the difference very well...
i am pleased with the outcome for now...
just awaiting the good weather so i can properly get it looking awesome :)

i need to do it again this was just a polish (meguiars) except the back bumper which i had some 205 for before running out

either meguiars 205
followed by a polish and wax
or meguiars ultimate compound will give you good results but you gotta use a DA polisher to get good results with either

doing by hand will last a while but not as well as a DA...

I popped down to Pistol Pete's today and we worked some magic on my tubby ready for the Kent Run this month, Pete had already been working hard on the paint, it looks like a different car nice and shiny :thumleft:

New Lenso D1R's fitted really helping to beef up the look :thumleft:

Decided to swap my steering wheel with Pete's Mrs it's off of her Mk1b for this one I love the deeper dish :thumleft:

Image

We also had a little tidy up in the engine bay I don't want it showroom in there but the inlet pipes were looking a bit crappy and the strut brace/cross brace needed a little bit of paint also fitted a few red berk hoses for a little splash of colour :D

Many thanks to Pistol Pete once again for all his help and hard work :thumleft:

The wheels have made a big difference! But I would say that, lol

I can relate to the swimming pool in the boot,I think I've stopped mine filling up after months of trying!

Popped down to Pistol Pete's today and we gave the car a bit more love ready for The Ace meet Saturday and Bromley motoring pageant Sunday :thumleft:

Now these dials needed to come out from day one I sourced an original set of clocks from a fellow imoc'er a month or so a go it was a nice easy fix and in my opinion a vast improvement.

Old Clocks

New Clocks

We fitted a depo boost guage a few months ago but today we sited the Eddy pod and wired up the oil pressure and oil temperature gauges rain stopped play so we still need to get the car up in the air get the oil filter off fit the sandwich plate and connect the sensors.

Image

Another couple of improvements that have put a little smile on my face.
