[All] [Turbo] Radtec Chargecooler limits

Post by mazmilly99 »

Has anyone tested the upper limits of a Radtec chargecooler core? I have the Radtec core, 24x12x1 heat exchanger, & a bosch pump. I wanted to know what's the tested limits of it? I've read somewhere 500hp, but has anyone ever taken it there and what were the inlet temps. I have a motor capable of 5-600hp but was wondering if my CC could handle this. I also have water injection which should help with the temps. My plans for the car is to daily drive with the occasional day at the strip. I will eventually be upgrading to a larger core but won't be for a while. Thanks

Water injection will not change the charge temp, it only works in the cylinders droping temps, pressure and power unless there is knock

I've been told by the manufacturers and re-sellers that they are good for up to 500hp, talking to some of the other specialists I think they start to struggle over 400hp.

For 500 - 600hp I'd say you definately want a bigger core :thumleft:

Dyno testing Simon's engine showed an upper limit of low to mid 400s. That's why we changed it.

My car has a Radtech and im at 500 HP with a SuperCharger.

The Bosch pump is small get a bigger pump Johnson M90. With one inch lines even better.

Your cooling efficiency is going to be determined by your intercooler and where its mounted.

? dont agree maybe the intercooler isnt efficient.

We have been having 40 and up to 45 degree days here and my inlet temps after constant pulls are hovering around 50 degrees celcius.

Intercooler was RadTec, mounted where it should be.

All problems solved when we changed to a Precision CC.

If you already have the radtec then try it.
Mine seemed fine at 460 but I never got around to taking it higher than that.
