MR2 Sills

Post by cabrioman »

Need help if anyone can.
I have a fabrication company next to where i work who may be able to fabricate a set of sills for our cars.
They would need dimensions or blueprints to confirm if they can though.
does anyone have any diagrams etc or the MK2 sills i can pass on please.
Also, if this can be done, would anyone else be interested?
Thanks in advance.

Hi :)

I wanted to ask how much would it cost for a pair of sills?

Expect to pay around a thousand quid for both sills repaired + paint.

They don't exist.

The only way a fabricator could replicate any sill is to have a new or mint used example in their workshop.

Why not take your motor in and use that as the template? Assuming the sills havnt completely rotted away. From there they should be able to create a copy template and produce as many as they need. Id have thought it's no good sending a load of measurements and profiles off somewhere if there's no understanding how they fit with the car. They're the experts, let them do the measuring :thumleft:

I recently had mine done...

Good luck mate. I'd imagine whoever can produce them to a good standard and cost effectively would be onto a winner. The only issue I found was it's often not just the sills that rot and once they're off you've also got wheel arch and floor sections to fix up to. Your quite local to me, if you want the address of the guys I used send me a pm :)

Thanks buddy.
I've got a friend who is a welder by trade and has built a few kit cars that I'm hoping will replace my sills and paint the car for me. I want to try and get a set of sills made though so i can save him the time of fabricating a set.
I haven't asked him yet though so i may need the details, so I'll let you know.
