Best place for parts

Post by Mavros »

Guys,

Anybody here would like to recommend a parts supplier for genuine parts? My local dealer won't order saying the car is too old, probably can't be bothered. I have a 1989 supercharged mk1. If I can figure out how I'll post some pics up.

Shocking behaviour by your local dealer George

Some Mk1 parts are no longer available but most still are

My local dealer are quite helpful & always try to get the parts I require

Is there a Toyota dealer in another nearby town that you could try ?

You need 15 posts before you can put up pictures

That sounds like they can't be bothered to look up the parts. With the new system it takes literally seconds to find any required parts.

Go to another dealer!

I'll try another dealer, do any of you guys use any other companies that sell parts - Fensport etc.
Can't believe I'm only up to 4 posts in 3 years, not to mention the five or six years of lurking before that! As soon as I'm up to 15 I'll post up some pics. I've owned the car 10 years but this year I treated her to a respray. Matt lime green

Still having problems with Toyota dealers. The first I tried was Snows Exeter, they said parts were no longer available. The second dealer was Roundswell Barnstaple, so far they've asked for reg, chassis, frame no, engine no, month and year of build, parts description and parts measurements! I'll give them one last chance then I'll send an email to Toyota GB.
Can anyone recommend a Toyota dealer (preferably in the South West) who will order parts for a 24 year old Mk1 MR2?
Thanks for the after market recommendations guys, maybe I should sidestep the main dealers altogether and just go to the specialists?

What are you actually after? This will influence your options for the best place to source it

Mine's a 24 year old mk2 but still I pretty much always use TCB now. Trevor really knows his stuff and things arrive correctly and promptly. Very easy to deal with too.
Good luck.

I've cooked a piston which has pinched a compression ring, so a set of those plus bearings, valve guides and anything that looks like it could do with changing, water/oil pump, clutch etc.

Piston will be the only thing specific to a supercharger and will need to come from Toyota unless you want to swap the whole set for aftermarket (there's no need, stock ones are fine). I bought a new piston a couple of years ago, cost was about £50, the rest will be standard 4age rebuild parts and should be widely available. I find its easiest if I do the legwork, work out what part numbers I want (the EPC can usually be found available for download or toyodiy have an online version) then present my parts guy with the list of numbers and brace for a scary price!

I know Mark used to use a Toyota dealership in the US for all his replacement SC engine parts.

It was a fair bit cheaper. But for one piston and bearings just order through a dealer in the UK.

I have one that will help you, all you need to do is give them the details and they will ship the parts to you.

Ask for Paul in parts and say that Lauren sent you. I'm sure he'll be happy to help as he knows most of the part numbers off the top of his head. He'll want your VIN plate details and then he can order your stuff. :+:

In the highly unlikely event that RRG Macclesfield can't help, Simon in parts at Toyota Aylesbury should be your 2nd port of call. You can tell him John sent you :thumleft:

Do you have a workshop manual for the 4AGZE? I've noticed from the parts catalogue that there are 4 different part numbers for pistons, which probably means that there's a number cast into the block somewhere to tell you which to use...

13101-16100-01 STD, MARK1
13101-16100-02 STD, MARK2
13101-16100-03 STD, MARK3
13103-16100 O/S 0.50

Mavros I have some NPR 81.5mm piston rings going spare...

I had to buy a new set as I broke one, so I had to buy all 16, but if you are interested pm me.

My pistons are not however supercharged, but I don't know if there is any difference in piston ring quality?

I was assured that NPR is the same quality as Toyota (ae86 club confirmed this)
