Hi everyone,
I have been reading these forums for a little while and am finally in a position to buy my first mr2! I am basically posting for a little advise and if anyone knows of things to look out for or even point me towards a car. So far I have decided it has to be a turbo not too sure on rev 1/2/3. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, good choice on buying an mr2 you will love it!
Go for a rev 3 onwards. Don't bother with a rev 1 or 2 unless your budget really won't allow you to go newer.
Good luck and enjoy

Re: mr2 buying advise
Just out of interest what is your budget? no point trying to get a rough rev 3 over a mint rev1/2 unless you're after a project.
Re: mr2 buying advise
Buy purely on condition these days. The majority out there are real dogs!
Re: mr2 buying advise
Not massive if I'm honest about £2000 maybe push a little for the right car...seen the yellow one on here that looked perfect and didn't sell but I think he decided to keep it.
Re: mr2 buying advise
You just need to be patient with your searching, you can get a nice enough Rev 3 turbo for 2k, I bought mine for £1,900 about four weeks ago.
I had very specific requirements and I wanted a tin top GT of which there are not many, if you don't mind or want a T-bar roof you will find a lot more options.
GT vs. GTS is down to personal taste.
But just buy on condition, get underneath the car and check for rust and go through the history.

Thank you for the help. I have had a read through and now decided I would like a rev3. Real shame the yellow one that was advertised is no longer for sale! I'm sure a nice one will come along though. Thanks again.

Hi there,
I am very excited. I have been in my brothers mr2 a lot and love it. I know mine won't be as quick but as a starting point it will be perfect. Just hope I don't get behind the wheel for the first time and hate it although I'm sure I won't.
