[Mk2] [Turbo] Stock car boosting to 15psi, should I be concerned?

Post by Marmalade »

Hi,

So a few weeks ago I bought a '94 Rev 3 Turbo, car has been at the garage for full inspection, service, MOT, cambelt, ignition components and decent brakes for a trackday on the 29th.

Garage did a compression test on the engine, all good and a leak down test on the turbo, apparently it is boosting to 15 psi.

Only mods the car has are ARC induction and an un-named SS exhaust, I know they overfuel as stock, but should I be concerned? I thought stock boost on a rev 3 was 13 psi?

All thoughts welcome

Mine boosted to 1 bar (14.7psi) with just a home made intake and full 3" exhaust/decat so I would say your about right. Its generally considered that 17psi is about top boost level on rev 3 with a decent intercooler

That's what does it... boost control gets tricky with 3" exhausts and you're probably experiencing a little creep.
