Magical 300hp

Post by mr2turbo99 »

Hi guys,

Last year I made 269.3hp @ 13.9 psi with filter, IC, down pipe and ct20b on my rev 1 turbo. I'm now starting to think about the magical 300hp mark. I'd love to achieve it, however, I don't know the best way to go about getting there. I was thinking rev 3 fueling and management and whack the boost up to 18psi but I'm not sure it's quite enough.

What would be the next logical step.

Many thanks.

Pm Jimgts, easier. He is the only guy I know that's done it in a rev 1/2 engine. It ain't easy that's for sure. You almost certainly need a programmable ECU

I'm pretty sure jimgts used the rev 3 ecu not a programmable one

If you can fork out for a rev3 conversion do it and use a rev 3 head as they have better air flow.. It's been so long since I had my rev2 turbo I can't remember what boost levels it can handle with a metal hg..

Might be worth investing in a water meth kit so at higher boost levels (above 14 psi) should be ok

300 bhp is achievable on a rev2 using a ct20b and rev3 conversion but that's maxing out (on standard engine and ct20b)

Ok thanks guys. Some thinking to do then. Think I'll run 1 bar next time i'm on the Dyno as this seems to be the bench mark. Luckily I have a rev 2 turbo engine with a rev 3 hg in my car so everything's good to go that little bit further.

I'm not sure about the earlier engines, but my Rev3 with steel shaft CT20b, SMIC, downpipe and boost controller makes around that power. Last June it made 300.2hp and in Feb this year we made a couple of tweaks which didn't pay off and it made 299.1hp. Got another run next Sat so will let you know how it goes if you're interested.

Stock rev2 with MHG , turbo technics s148 hybrid @ .9bar , 3" downpipe, better intercooler, and exhaust i made 299.1bhp on stock ecu and AFM.

Now moved onto rev3 ecu and 1.2bar :) mucho more power.

300bhp is fairly easy to get if your engine is healthy.

Rev2 head isnt restrictive it actually flows better than rev3 its the intake manifold that doesnt flow as well.

Drop in rev3 cams and 350 is within reach :)

Agreed ... Rev 3 Fueling / ECU, chargecooler and 1.2 bar off a CT-20b turbo will see 300 bhp on a Rev 1/2 Head....

They flow better than a rev 3 head.. ! :thumleft:
