[Mk2] [Generic] Does a LSD Celica box fit a MR2?

Post by Ryan6926 »

As title really, a friend of mine has a LSD gearbox which he never got round to fitting to his Celica, he now hasn't got one as I now own it he's curious as to if it'll fit a MR2 without too much work?

Cheers

Should do but work is involved. You need to move the gear shift points from the back for the gearbox to the front. The ratios are different too.

When you say LSD gearbox, I assume it was from an NA celica? As all the turbos are 4wd and then you have a transfer box in place of where the diff would be. If it's an NA gearbox then it won't accept MR2 turbo driveshafts AFAIK as they are larger. If it is an NA box then I guess that makes it an S54 (where MR2 Turbos use an E153).
