Selling my mk1.5 with no engine, value?

Post by Lee H »

I appreciate this may not be allowed so mods please remove if so.

I have recently bought a mk3 and am planning on transplanting the 3SGTE out of my mk1 into it (after sorting its running issue) so I will need to keep the engine, gearbox, chargecooler, shafts etc.

However the car has a lot of other tasty parts on it so it seems a shame to break it and scrap the shell. The shell has had some welding but looks tidy enough apart from one rear arch bubbling again and one of the doors. Obviously any other 3SGTE will drop straight in on the mounts.

Of the top of my head is has the following:

WMS 4 pot front brakes
Turbo rear brakes with bigger disks
Turbo ARB
Polybushes throughout
OZ superleggera 15" alloys with nearly new Toyos
Koni shocks
Cusco strut braces
Evo Recaro seats
Momo wheel with snap off boss
Walbro fuel pump
Exhaust system

Probably more.

Anyone care to try and put a value on it. I have a rev 2 turbo engine but there are too many other parts needed that are on my current setup to make it feasible to refit.

Ironically it's worth more in parts than as a whole, however for someone wanting to jump start their own 1.5 build the shell is worth a lot more because the mounts are in and ready to hang an engine.

Difficult to value.

I know Paul, probably got nearly £2k in parts there on a good day, looking like it may have to get broken up and weighed in.

Still got the old rev 2 engine out of it to sell as well.

Shame the front brakes can't be transferred to a mk3 easily.

I would have thought someone would kill for this to easily put a turbo engine into given all the hard work with the mounts has been done.

It would be a real shame to scrap it.

1.5

Why not sell the 1.5 as a whole & fund the new engine from the sale?
Or am I missing summit?

Having a few running issues with the engine so wouldn't sell it like that as been shafted like that myself. Also decent LSD gearboxes etc are getting hard to come by now as are shafts, cv joints and all the other parts.

I have the best part of £3k in the engine and other components and they will nowhere near add that value to the car but will cost me the same if I build again.

Messaged on TB about this already but wondering what you will take for it? Considering my budget for buying a car to build a mk1.5 I'd rather not insult you by making offers.

On holiday for two weeks as of tomorrow but will be stripping it on my return. £1500 takes the car with no engine and transmission but everything else left on.

Will prepare a proper ad when I get back.

I think I owe you an email reply (sorry!!! )...I will be able to help you out there as I'm planning a Mk3 kit - still 280mm-ish.

Nag me if I don't get back to you properly!!! (the brackets are designed and I think I've got two prototype discs done as well - two options though, not a pair)
