This all sounds expensive lol. Just scared if I get the 3s rebuilt it will crack. But don't want to go stupid power so is the 5s justifiable at 350bhp?

The Rev3 block issue is rare, but a known issue.

You could choose to use a Rev1/2/4/5 block. Or go the 5S route.

Guess who is the only one on this forum who can make that decision? :-k

In all seriousness, start by considering budget. A 5S will cost at least £1K more than a 3S.

So about 3k instead of 2k (without turbo)?

3K would build you a good 5S longblock.

Just to jump into a topic I know nothing about here, in search of juicy knowledge, does the 2.2 litre capacity of the 5S aid torque development?

If you had an extremely conservative 5S-GTE, say 300hp, and a reasonably tuned rev3 (let's say) 3S-GTE, also 300hp - does the 2.2L displacement make it the 'better' engine in performance terms?

Is there a difference in fuel consumption?

I would have thought the extra capacity and torque of the 5S would slightly lower the turbo spool time?
