Please help ID my mirrors

Post by KarlBristol »

I've just bought a set of mirrors which are on their way to me as we speak. They are lightweight, well made fibreglass ones, and I know they are expensive. Difficulty is I'm not exactly sure who made them.

I thought initially they were Bomex Type 2 but they seem too small for that.

Does anyone know the make of them?

Pretty sure they aren't Phoenix Power ones as the Phoenix Power ones seem to wrap around along the bottom, as seen here

Any other ideas?

They are still in transit at the minute. The seller said its got markings on the back plate but he couldn't make it out.....

I'm intrigued as they are definitely company made. Anyone?...

I thought initially Bomex Type 2, and they are very very similar.... I'm pretty sure they aren't Bomex though as the mirror glass on the Bomex ones are far bigger and a slightly different shape.

Does hold a very similar overall design though.
Bomex Type 2 ones can be seen here:

Any other ideas

That's probably not a bad shout :-k

I received the mirrors today, and they need some work... They are badly painted with paint drip marks on them, and the glass has been hand cut and isn't to the best standard. Ideally I would like to find out who the manufacturer is so I can order new glass for both mirrors...

Did you manage to dig out any more photos?

The manufacturer mark is too covered in paint to make out unfortunately. The only bit I can make out is the first bit which reads "Dia W..." The only thing that I can make out properly is the serial number for each unit. One has 2230239 written in it and the other has 2230240 on it. Any ideas??

Any more ideas or photos as to the make?

I started to rub them back with various grades of sandpaper today. Already clocked up 4 hours of work on them, and they are clearly going to need a lot more!! It will be worth it though. I might crack open the filler and some more sandpaper tomorrow.

Still in two minds on if I want to fit them or primer them and sell them :-k

If you could that would be appreciated :thumleft:

At the moment I think that it looks like the strongest contender as to what my mirrors actually are...

Thank you
