[Mk2] [NA] Will these Head unit work with my car ?

I have looked at lots of post regarding ICE and got myself a bit confused.
My car is a UK spec 1996 with the factory fit radio/cassette/cd player it has two subwoofers behind the seats so im guessing its an active amp system.
The cd player doesnt like any discs and comes up with DEFEAT when i try and play one (have tried a cotton bud soaked in ipa to clean the lens etc but still no go)
So im looking at head units and liking the double din style and not want to spend loads on a weekend car i have seen this

Any of them will work provided it fits in the hole and is wired correctly!

I was more interested in the compatibility side of things ,anyhow ive ordered it and a lead,so i will know soon enough

Its unlikely to wire in directly even with an adapter as you have the active system. You will probably need to rewire from the head unit directly to your speakers. I have also found the power wires are much to weak on the feed to the head unit as they are designed for a system with no apmplification. I rewire the +12v and Ground but the memory wire is usually ok.

Well update all working ,had to some splicing but using the original active system.In hindsight should of got a Head unit with 2 sets of preouts rather than one.
Also unit sticks out a bit ,going to try and get surround peice to fit after a bit of adjustment will make it look better.
But it sounds good and now have cd`s and mp3`s to play!
