[Mk2] [Turbo] fuel pressure regulator?

Post by steelyblue »

Had a genuine sard item ordered that was never delivered and cant find any others. ive always used sard for my turbo cars so now im at a loss for what brand to use thats of a similar high standard of quality. can anyone help with this? I know gts chris has aeromotive ones for sale but £150 is a tad steep for an fpr (well priced, jus a bit more than im willing to spend atm. ive a budget of 120 for one so its not like im skimping on price. can anyone help me with this?[/list]

What is your goal with a FPR? If £150 is too expensive i am guessing your not on stand alone EMS.

The sard's brand new are 90 delivered. Hence the 150 being top expensive! Its for to stage one my turbo, im not goin for massive power that the aeromotive is made for, im simply going for stage one so it doesnt need to be overly capable. far as i know the aero is capable of dealing with 500bhp?

I'd question whether that is a genuine SARD FPR, they are between £94-£100 before tax in Japan.

There are fakes out there: http://www.tunersgroup.com/TunerWire_Li ... _sard.html

If your not on a stand alone EMS and trying to squeeze extra performance out of your 540cc side feeds - there is little or no merit installing an adjustable FPR.

My advice would be to save that £90 and put towards other mods.....

There's loads of genuine ones for sale even on eBay...

They aren't at the £150 that you were worried about either :thumleft:

I also wouldn't be surprised if places like GTS Chris could get their hands on one for you if you call them up. They can normally source anything that I need :thumleft:

I'm sure the mr2 turbo is not the only Japanese turbo car that uses a rising rate fuel pressure reg as standard.
The reason there not needed is because fuel pressure increases per psi of boost as standard. So whether your running 10 or 20psi, it will either put in +10 or +20psi extra fuel pressure.
As said I'm sure the mr2 is not the only car that uses an oem fpr like this.

Only reason you'd need one is to either raise or lower your fuel pressure to bring it back to stock, or raise if you need to squeeze more pressure/fuel out (assuming you have a way to control the fueling via a EMS/mappable ecu).
