Smashed up rev 5 turbo - update
It's 3 weeks on Friday since the garage "road tested" my rev 5 turbo after fitting 2 new back tyres then smashed it through a concrete post & wire fence, absolutely wrecking the thing. After numerous phone calls, and waiting for nearly 2 weeks to establish the value, they are writing it off and offering £5,700, which I have said is not enough. What do you think? Am I able to dispute this with the garage's insurers? Can they write my car off? Obviously I will be asking the garage for the money back for the tyres, inconvenience, phone calls, petrol etc. Also, can't work out how to get the pics on here, can someone let me know pls? Should rareness not be an issue here in relation to what they offer me; it's a 99 reg not a 98.
Re: Smashed up rev 5 turbo - update
Assuming your car was stock, I'd say that's close to a good price- you would struggle to get that much if you were trying to sell a rev5 turbo in today's market. But there is always room to push for more I guess, they say you should never take the first offer
But you're the only one who can answer the question- will you be happy to walk away with that much in your pocket?

Their first offer is usually just plain cheeky.
Re: Smashed up rev 5 turbo - update
I'd probably go for that price but only if they allow you to take the car away so you can strip it down and keep any aftermarket parts. Good luck

The problem is if you ask, they will likely say no. Just tell them what's going to happen, it's your car after all.

This ^ How much is it going to cost you to get as close a car as you can? It was the garage's negligence which lost the car, not yours, so you need to be able to replace it like for like. If that costs the garage money, on top of the max insurance pay out, it shouldn't be your problem!

Newera have a Rev5 for sale I believe, if not it'll be in their sold cars list
Newera's cars always have healthy prices
You could always look on goo-net for Rev5 cars and work out the cost to bring one in.

Newera had a rev4 tubby for £7500 recently so there's a start.
Re: Smashed up rev 5 turbo - update
If you agree the figure as compensation and not an offer to take the car as a total loss then they cannot write the car off or take it from you.
