While my car is away getting work done to it, i decided to buy her a present:

Image

New Apex lowering springs

Also came with a set of struts and brand new dust covers/boots

Image

So that kills a few birds with one stone when i get the car back before it goes in for geomatry and alignment, as i still needed to fit the new rear drop links so can get it all done at once before setup and new wheels

Hopefully will have pics of car in next few days with new exhaust etc on and maybe a video too

Thanks man they are lovely, and have new rubber on them too so will look sweet when on the car
Going to (at some point) get the 3 rear windows blacked out and fronts within limit too for the black on black look plus want to get rid of the amber crap on the car too but need to keep it legal so may go crystal instead for side repeaters and try something with rear lights but that will be down the line :thumleft:

Yeah bud they are going to look brilliant on the car for sure.
The tints will definitely set if off also... :)
You can get the front end lights in a dark smoked look too.. They might
Work for you. Although the crystal may help to break it
Up just. Little bit :)

I have seen a set of the Lexus style
Rear lights smoked out really really dark so you
Can't see they are Lexus lights and they just look like smooth black lights.. Pretty cool. But I imagine not mega bright though

What drop are the springs? Mine had 30mm APEX springs on and the ride overall was good but you do wince when you hit potholes etc. Mainly because of the damage you think they're doing to they car :pale:

no not at all, it's truly horrible :( my very fist mr2 when i was 22 had the best suspension ever, no idea what it was though, it was kinda bouncy but really firm at the same time, although it did understeer badly in the rain, it was a rev2 n/a import. felt really tight on the road and potholes were no trouble at all, unfortunatley, my brothers garage went on fire with the mr2 in it :( so i never even got the chance to check out the running gear etc...

Yeah its 30mm, it should be ok for me as i dont drive much these days, also my ride quality couldnt be much worse than it is now.. Think 18" buckled alloys with 35 profile and geomatry alignment etc are so bad that going over a pothole almost breaks my jaw!
Going to good as new 16" alloys with 45 profile should ease that up a fair bit.
I did try Glens car with the apex springs and he has 17s and his car was a perfect ride quality for me

For sure the bigger profile will make a difference. 35 profiles look nice, that is all  Saying that though my 1er runs 38/18s on it and the ride's fine.

I like 45 profiles, 40 is probably the most id do which i plan to next summer on 17s but im just not into the 18s on the mr2 personally [-(

18's are good for show but do compromise the go. If Mule 2 didn't have 18's on when I got it I'd have been 17's as a maximum. Probably those Volks Rogue has/had for sale =P~

So to update whats been happening:

Had the new intercooler and fan kit fitted with new pipes, new twin stainless steel exhaust fitted (sounds great), berk downpipe, the turbo which was sent away for a full rebuild with steel internals etc, dizzy o-ring, oil filter and oil change, coolant flush and refill and bleed.

Will have to get someone to do a bit of messing about and welding with the exhaust system as it doesnt sit perfect, also most likely going to get the IC pipes all welded into 1piece pipes as im not impressed with the 2-3piece system.

Quick peek at the exhaust:

More pics coming soon

The lowering springs have been fitted along with new boots/dust covers which i didnt have on my shocks, while i was at it i gave the shocks a quick scrub down with the wire brush then sprayed a light coat of matt black paint on to give it a bit more protection and look better of course.

Rear droplinks fitted whilst doing the springs.

New eibach caber adjustment bolts fitted all round.

Toms wheels were put on with black slimeline blox nuts.

Before the drive i went on Saturday 21st i decided to give my window seals a bit of care and done the plastic panel between the bonnet and windsreen which was turning a cloudy light grey.

This was the drive with Glen and his Rev3 tubby and Calum and his Rev5 Beams:
