Question about a turbo engine cover
does a rev 3 turbo engine cover fit a non turbo rev 3 - without any modification doing to it ? or are the size different?
Re: Question about a turbo engine cover
MK2 engine lids NA and Turbo are all the same fitment.
Re: Question about a turbo engine cover
Make sure you get the rain tray as well because unlike the n/a engine lid, the turbo engine lid has a separate rain tray.

Unless you are talking about the camshaft cover in which case no.

This is a very common modification, and a very useful one. The raintray design is much improved and the lid is lighter to boot.

No it's not. I thought that too, but was set straight.

Re: Question about a turbo engine cover
Really?
They're essentially the same size but one is fibreglass and plastic and the other, sheet metal. Surprising that the NA lid is lighter... Were they put on scales?

I'm aware of that however the sheet metal is a lot thinner than the fibreglass (and there's a lot more fibreglass due to the louvered vents).
AFAIK they were, it was Rogue who did the comparison.

Re: Question about a turbo engine cover
Very interesting. I'll have a gander on Google later. Funny thing - I have seen NA lids rumble and vibrate through the rear window, but not turbo lids, having had both on the same 3S-GE engine. Perhaps the strengthening veins in the turbo lid are what increase the weight so much, but also stop it shivering... Pure speculation.
Re: Question about a turbo engine cover
i have both in my unit, i can weigh them if you dont find the info
