[Mk2] [Turbo] Tom's Reno wheels finally fitted!

Post by Chumbaside »

Took advantage of the long weekend to get my Toyos swapped from my Racing Sparco's (see For Sale) to my Tom's Renos that I purchased from Cardhore before Christmas.

Really pleased with the style of the wheels. The finish is not perfect - a little too orange-peeley for my liking - but I can live with it for now.

I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking! :thumleft:

A common DVLA mistake apparently is to register the car when it arrives in the UK :thumleft:

It definitely looks notably higher than mine on Apex -30mm springs, I think.

Maybe my shocks are gone too  5mm can't make all that much difference!

Ah nice one, I have a 12" x 3" and its just too small, looks ridiculous. But yours almost looks like its meant to be there :thumleft:

Yours definitely looks a lot lower :-k

Are you running 17s? What profile are the tyres?
Mine are 16s with a 225/45 on the rear.

Yeah they're 17s, I have lost all hope of ever fitting 16s again with the brakes

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Using this page, I make it that my tyres (245/40/17) are 628mm tall whereas yours are 608mm.

Stock, according to that (225/50/15) are 607mm.

So 20mm difference in tyre size? That would explain the apparent difference in ride height I guess!

Yeah, significant really. A 245/35 tyre would drop me back to 604mm, which would be better I suppose, but they're much harder to get hold of and they look a little... Rubber-band like.

For Falkens theyre £113 a corner - thats acceptable :) Thats what I'll change mines to when my existing ones die

Awww man... I wish I never got rid now. They look amazing. Some polishing will rid of the orange peel effect I hope.

Regardless they look amazing on that car and will look even better once lowered!

I doubt ill ever see another set!
