Project "Dicker" is on it´s way to the finish !
Bolted the driveshafts to the car in the last weeks, gave the brakes a revision including the installation of braided brake hoses from Goodridge and new brake discs on the rear axle.
Also managed to get the new radiator stop leaking, final assambled the engine bay with the air box, new Magnecore silicone spark plug leads and put the inside of the car back together.
Today I bleeded the brakes and the clutch, filled the gearbox with 75W90 and had the missing custom made part of the exaust builded by my mate Marko :
Will get it final welded at the machine shop who made the header next week. Then I will have to ajust the ignition timing and final bleeding the cooling system.
After this is done only the TÜV check (equal to Your MOT ) will be needed, I will have to insure the car and reregister it to me !
Only two weeks away from the deadline !

Made the last steps today. Picked up the exaust from the machine shop where it was finally welded and gave the endbox a good polish:
The part my mate and me made:
Bolted under the car:
Let the car warm up, adjusted ignition timing, checked for the radiator fans working correctly and now all the car will need is a major clean up, TÜV check and registration.

After 10 years still standing the polished wheels lost their gloss. So I used yesterday afternoon to refurb them.
Took the hole afternoon, but is was worth it:
One of the wheels was damaged from trailering the car in the past:
But I could sand it out and polish it up again:

It´s done !
Passed the TÜV check yesterday and managed it to get it registered bevor the late shift. Still have to clean up inside and find out why the radio don´t work, but it´s finally back on the road after 10 years !

Excellent stuff, she looks fantastic

I´m not so happy with the engine. Smokes out of the exaust, specially when cold.

To be honest a car like that is screaming out for something special in the engine bay.

It's difficult to get a engine swap streetlegal here in Germany plus there's never bin a other
engine than the 4A-GE avaiabel stock so with an swaped engine I can't get a historic reistration when her becomming 30 years old in 2016 .
Only choice would be a 4A-GZE .I've still got one, but I decided against the swap because of the work that would be necery and the costs.
Will look if the GE survives the summer and if not I'll maybe swap in the GZE in next Winter.

It seems that we are lucky in the UK not having such strict engine swap regulations as in Germany Eric
Are the regs similar to the German ones in other European countries ?

Do the regulations also apply to imports ? ( i.e. could you 'export' the car to Paul, he fits a V6, then you 'import' it back again )
Re: My AW11 Fritzinger widebody. Some years of work in pictures
Getting a engine swap legal is difficult here, but not impossibel. Special on older cars with the less restrictiv emission rules a swap could be legalized. It would only be expensive ( around 1500 Euro to get it into papers) .
But there is no way to get a V6 swapped Mk1 registraded as a historic car as this modification is too younger age.
Will work with a 4A-GZE swap as this engine was available stock in the Mk1, even if this was only outside Germany.

Wasn´t online here for a long time and note that I forgot to link the better pictures of Dicker I took on the end of the last season. So here they are:
Currently Dicker is stored in the shed again and waiting for me to find the time to replace the valve shaft gaskets and maybe the piston rings.
But I work and spending money on my Celica at the moment so maybe the MR2 will take a longer nap.

Sorry, missed the mail that informs for a reply.
The back box is from TTE .It´s still available from the manufacturer who produced it for TTE back in the days. It´s sold under the brand name "Fox" now.

In Germany TUV approval is required. So you can't fit parts that aren't TUV approved. Belgium does not allow modifications that are not cosmetic basically, so it's the strictest of all. Italians suffer similarly from what I can work out.
It differs from country to country. No such issues really in the Netherlands it seems.
Well done on the car looks good.
