[Mk2] [NA] Blitz Nur Spec fitting

Post by CalMac »

Got hold of a Nur Spec from Ebay last week, just been cutting it up and fiddling with it to get it fitted on my N/A this afternoon. I still need to buy a new 2.5" flange and a 3" to 2.5" reducer to fit to existing Japspeed mid pipe.

ANYWAY. I'd like to know how it's supposed to hang! I've tagged a new mounting tab onto the left hand (viewing from rear of car) bar as the previous owner had cut it off to remove it from their car - can anybody tell me the distance from the centre of the hole in this tab to the top of the approx. 1/2" bar which it is welded to? As far as I can tell it should be about 2", but may be less.

Secondly - the right hand tab is vertically square(-ish) - am I right in presuming that the left hand tab ought to be about 10 degrees off square towards the front of the car?

Finally, do the tabs bolt onto the front or back side of the exhaust hangers - I'm thinking it may be LHS front face and RHS rear face.

I'd be very grateful if one of you could get under their car in the snow and help me out here!

Appreciate any input :D

Hope performnance doesn't suffer too much from lack of back pressure...

I like it loud, what can I say! and yep it's decat with Japspeed mani too :P

It's this video that did it for me...

Yeah I know all about loss of backpressure from when I built a straight-through stainless side exit on my Ford KA  wouldn't recommend it...

That would be brilliant if you could Peter - thanks!

Would Fensport have a NurSpec silencer bung if it comes to it..? 8)

Tried a nur spec on my 2 when it was still an auto, drove it twice round the block, once without a bung and the other with it fitted
The noise was unbearable so was taken off immediately

Now have one fitted on my v6 \:D/

Now you've all got me worried about how loud this is gonna be and loss of low-end pull :(

Had a thought today though - how about if I cut it completely to bits and re-fab the main pipes in 2.5", just welding in the 2 silencers using reducers?

Would this help with both issues? 8)

True, fit it and see what it sounds like. I would recommend the bung though, will also help with back pressure.
