What's it worth? Rev3 Turbo Unfinished Project

Post by Moo »

A change of circumstances means I may have to call it day with this car. Looking at my options and trying to decide if it's worth keeping, trying to sell as a whole or breaking.

How much is this likely to be worth as it is now? Couple of grand or is that wishful thinking? Doesn't need much work to finish it off but still needs mapping, MoT and tax.

Over 15k spent on it in the last 2 years it's been off the road. Some nice bits like ECU and RT Dash2 that are brand new and unused.

Details of the project here.

Surely not!?

It would be a shame for you to not complete this project and even sadder to not even sample it.

Payday loan perhaps? Since as a whole, yes - hard to get what you put in. But to strip it? I don't think anyone on the forum would want to see that.

I'd just say hang in there, give up holidays, booze, fags, nights out for a while. At least the car will still be there after all those respective expenses are just a distant memory.

You should store the car until you've got the funds to complete it,I broke my last mr2 which id done a fair bit of work to (not a fraction of what you've done!) and I still regret it. Try and watch the pennies and just finish the car bit by bit,I'm sure there will be folk willing to lend a hand where possible. It will be some car when its done!!

Ah mate it would be such a shame not to finish it and enjoy it for a while yourself. I've looked it over many times while it was at PW and always thought it would be one of the best 2s out there once its done.

This is one of those threads you really don't ever want to see or read. I'm sorry to hear it's come to this Paul, as I understand how much this car's taken from you over the past couple of years :(

If I can help in any way give me a shout. If I can offer advice now I'd say to take as much time as you can afford right now and seriously weigh up your options. You've put a huge amount into the car (financially and emotionally) to get it where it is now and it would be a huge shame to lose it.

Go have that beer with Ash and mull over the options with an objective mindset :)

I'm shocked as well Paul, I thought it was 99% finished?

One thing is for sure, unless you find a mental foreign buyer with money coming out of their ears, it will always be worth more in bits.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Thanks for the advice, both on here and via PM, and thanks to those who've contacted me regarding buying the car.

I really don't want to get rid of it after having come so far and it being so close to complete but it may well be a case of needs must.

Got a few options open to me so will consider it all over Christmas and take a decison in the new year.

Cheers all, wishing you a great Christmas and New Year :thumleft:
