OMG  I was won over just by the detail on your carbon dash, the type font etc but this is the mutts big kahona's right there...,

That's so OEM, it could have come from the factory except they didn't have your attention to detail or wiring/soldering skills

Love the Stock look...makes me want to modify my Dads v6 for him just to have OEM looking trick details. That's just sublime Peter \:D/ =P~

Rear lights are going to be a major project. Going to need to make several moulds of moulds of moulds  , so going to finish interior and associated jobs, plus get engine sorted.

Front clam and rear clam will be done next winter.

brilliant build, Just read the whole thread and I love the attention to detail like the brake line holders on the wishbones, on the other hand the piston clearance #-o that was scary, glad you sussed it.

Keep up the good work I'm looking forward to the updates :D

Dashboard has been flocked. Thanks to Yorkshire Flocking (who have flocked all the Ginetta dashboards) for a perfect job:

Correct.

Speak to Mike - tell him you've seen the work he did for me. As i said above, they've done all the dashboards for Ginetta.

High quality and not expensive.

Once the dash is fitted, access to the wiring is just about impossible, so i needed to test all circuits before fitting the dash. I also wanted the centre panel totally removeable from the car for future maintenance etc.

Centre panel was wired with colour-coded wire, and all circuits, plugs and sockets etc. noted in Excel. 2 12pin plugs connect the panel to the main dash loom.

Image

Bench testing the circuits. The 4 main switches were special order bi-colour LEDs. Green for sidelight circuit and red for switched circuits. Sidelight LEDs have now been dimmed down using an inline resistor.

Image

Panel was plugged into the chassis mounted sockets and all circuits tested.

Then the big day. Removed gear lever (3 hours!) and carefully fitted dash. Audi air vents fitted, and gauges, Dash2 and DL1 plugged in.

Some months ago i picked up a genuine BNIB Ford GT billet gear knob. The engraved gear positions are the same as my Getrag box, and the brushed aluminium finish matches the Audi vents perfectly. Bargain at just over £100.

Gaer lever was cut down by 35mm, and thread recut to match the gear knob. Refitted along with tunnel trim.

Image

The Lifeline extinguisher controlbox wouldn't fit where i wanted it with the side entry DIN plug.

Image

So it was opened up, and marked for drilling.

Image

After drilling and filing, DIN socket now fitted to rear of box.

Image

Needed a new battery, so went for same Red Top as used in the Ginetta race cars.

Smaller than my old Odyssey and 2.5Kg lighter!
