[Mk2] [Turbo] rev limiter/launch control (Bee R etc)

Post by Ryan S »

ok, so having researched these a bit, there seems to be mixed opinions on them, i'd quite like to use one for the occasional day at the drag strip, however, i have heard/read that they can damage the engine etc....

anyone got any opinions??

I think they blow the stock ceramic turbo to bits uprated turbos will last longer with them.. .

Loads of people on the skyline forums use them and I moderate on just about the biggest one, have never heard of a broken ceramic exhaust wheel TBH.

I can see how it would happen but have never seen anyone with a blown turbo or blown engine.

don't think i'm too keen on all the popping and banging etc, is that the only way it can be used as launch control?

Its only when you increase the gain/retard that you get boost (and the popping and banging)

All you need is a small nitrous oxide system, that will get the turbo going for drag racing.

Nitrous Oxide Systems, or NOS is the best one out there.

i could be into this, bear in mind, the car is my daily driver, it's just for a bit of fun on the strip now and again, nothing too serious :)

Not really, it would just be a regular rev limiter!

Nitrous is great but please dont use an old big shot american NOS kit use a proper system designed for progressive control like a WON system ;)
