Paul Sims?

Post by Touge_AW11 »

Anyone heard from him lately? I bought a set of calipers off him that turned out to be seized solid and can't seem to get in touch with him. I'm not trying to start a witch-hunt, I'm sure there's good reason, but could do with getting this sorted before I deploy overseas.

Cheers,

Paul Sims

I bought a front valance for my Mk1 from him. He described it as being in excellent condition on the phone but when it turned up it was extensively rusted, dented and all the mounting lugs were damaged. The part was only fit for the scrap bin and he must have known that when he sent it. When I emailed him he never replied.

I personally will never ever do business with him again.

I've tried ringing/texting but had nothing back.

Out of interest, did your problem with the bumper ever get resolved? I'd certainly be looking for my money back; the calipers I received were in far-worse state than the ones I took off.

I had a brake cylinder from him last year, it was in shoddy condition so I couldn't use it.

So to you guys who received unuseable goods from the trader.

You didn't return the items and insist on a refund?

If not, then he will carry on sending out rubbish.

If I may chime in with a very humble opinion - secondhand parts will, by their very nature, always be hit & miss. One guy will be happy with something that somebody else sees as scrap. However as a seller you do need to work through people's problems and sort out refunds where it's obvious something was wrong.

Not siding with anyone but Paul usually takes paypal so if you were unhappy and he wasn't responding to emails why did you not set up a paypal dispute?

I just wont understand why when people need parts they do not put up a wanted advert? There ARE alternatives to the Mk1 breakers.

I'll definately try that next time I need spares Ollie

I do buy advertised parts from members rather than breakers ( as you know :) )

Not sure if a wanted ad on here would produce the required part quickly enough

Some members seem to have a good stock of spares though :-k

Unfortunately when I have need parts pretty quickly I have found that the time to reply sometimes takes a long time and it is indeed quicker to contact the breakers immediately.

But I only TCB parts in Cornwall as Trevor is xxxx hot :)

They're a little old school Peter, if you google TCB parts or Toyota Celica Breakers you'll find them.

I think he's a word of mouth kind of guy (Trevor). His service, prices and quality of parts means he's popular, I've used him many times, most recently for topmounts.
