That damp time of year anyone notice condensation on the underside of the frunk, this metal compartment without any vent and no throughflow of air is a trap for moisture, whats the answer.
Carpet, Polystyrene, lining the frunk, Halfrauds Bells Moisture Mate & refillable crystals £4.99+£2.99 used for caravan storage.
Any thoughts...............

Ah thanks Will keep an eye on my frunk.
Re: Damp Frunk
Have you checked the frunk seal? I don't get any condensation under my bonnet.

That's what I was thinking, there's not really any other way for water to get in.
I think there's a grommet/drain at the bottom too though.

There is a drain hole at the bottom, and should have a rubber grommet in there too

Re: Damp Frunk
also, behind the battery where all those pipes go - that leads to the outside world! It is not a sealed compartment.
frunk
Dont know as water is getting in all seems ok, its more a question of cold/damp trapped air in a tin box.
A boot compartment is usually lined with carpet below the lid.
A bonnet above an engine usually has a liner to soundproof that area.
An MR2 has neither of the above just cold metal surfaces in an enclosed area. Amost looks like the front bonnet is sweating on the underside!!
If garaged probably never get this.
Car not used every day does'nt help.

Re: Damp Frunk
The boot also gets condensation on the inside. The boot and frunk have both had this for the 10 years I have owned the car . My seals are all fine. It all goes when the temperature rises in the day and causes no problems.
Re: Damp Frunk
That's interesting, I noticed beads of water on the underside of my boot a couple days ago but the carpet didn't seem wet, must be the same thing
damp
Wonder if the boot and bonnet lids had a liner of some kind,or would the same symptoms persist only out of sight behind the liner !!
Suppose the Halfords Bells Moisture Mate is worth a try, even the cabin suffers to some degree on the windscreen, pillar-less doors are great but the door/window seal between inside and outside air is a token gesture really even though it keeps water out.
Interesting replies though any solutions out there......

Re: Damp Frunk
I had to run with the grommet out of my frunk, the bloke who installed my alarm drilled a hole for a bonnet open switch in the water channel down the side of it It's perfectly safe to do so, as the other side of the grommet has an undertray about 20mm away from it, so nothing will get IN that way.
