[Mk2] [Turbo] Immobiliser removal

So, I went out on Friday night and lost my keys and my phone. My phone was returned to me but I haven't been so lucky with my keys... My immobiliser fob is lost and I have no spare...

I spoke to a local alarm specialist today who said he would be able to travel to me and remove the immob in 30 mins, this is without knowing what type it is.

To me this sounds slightly overconfident but what do I know? I wouldn't know where to start! I can see costs increasing on this one...

I just found some old paperwork from Toyota where they inspected the security on the car, they said it 'only stops engine from starting, does not cut out ignition or starter motor'.

With a limited knowledge and experience with car electrics would this be something I could tackle on my own? How complicated could this be potentially? Are there common places this immob might be attached?

Remove dash under-panel. Look around the ignition wires for one that has been cut and the ends joined to (normally) black wires.

When you've found such a wire, PM me the colour of the cut wire so it's purpose can be confirmed. If it's the right one you only have to cut at the joins, resolder the ends, and all should be good.

I've been quoted £220 for supply and fit of a sigma alarm with remote central locking and immob, sounds pretty good to me.
