[Mk2] [Turbo] rev2 turbo performance

Post by bazpro »

been using my rev2 turbo everyday as my beemer is off getting fixed.
cars standard except for , air filter and mbc set at 0.8 bar.
car starts runs and drives great actually enjoy it more than my bmw and its better on petrol somehow !!
any way the car seems to pull fine but lacks the kick up the ar$e ive had in the past with other turbo cars, cozzy,200sx,impreza ect.
it still goes ok off the mark but feels like theres not much boost and revs seems to pick up a bit slow once up into 3rd and 4th, by 5th it pulls on fine.
iam going to fit a new boost gauge to it this week as mine is a bit unreliable and when i lift off the gauge doesnt go into vacuum very quick like in other cars ive has
never even been in a mr2 before this one so not sure what is normal for these.
is there anywhere in the north east who specialises in these and can give it a once over.
not looking for massive power or anything as needs brakes doing first just want to see if its running as it should.

Have you serviced the car? How old are the ignition components - plugs, cap, arm etc.?

Give Paul Woods a call - 07951 304712.

To get the most out of a rev1 / 2 turbo don't rev over 6000 there's no power!! Soon as you hit 6000 change gear it will feel quicker :eye:
