[Mk2] [Turbo] my first tubby

Post by dylan5084 »

just bought my first and its quality, after having a n/a for years, needs a bit of work though... got rattling from the front and back, im guessing the droplinks

the guy i bought it from said the engine is a recon bla bla bla with a sketchy looking receipt but it looks near enough :D

im located in Forth 10 miles from Lanark and 12 miles from Livingston in south lanarkshire is there any mr2 specialists near me i can drop her off for them to have a look?

whats the first mods i should do for more power, im looking for 300-320bhp :thumleft:

also not sure which revision it is, its not got much history, says its manufactured in 2000 which i doubt, ill post pics 2morrow its got cruise control and ac ( the nob for temp is loose ish doesnt seem to adjust the temp)

Airbag steering wheel on a turbo, sounds like a rev4. Is there a passenger side air bag in the dash?

Revision 2!

Revision 3+ back lights though. Toblerones on the front mean it's not rev4 or rev 5. Clear lights on the front were rev4+ but a common swap. But Sonic Shadow was a rev4+ colour, I think! Engine transplants and bodywork swaps are all common easy done things, so who knows.

Could be a swapped spoiler and steering wheel but it seems unlikely... Original reg. plate or VIN number useful for correct identification of age/year.

It has a Rev2 engine. AFM and 2 vac hoses on top of throttle body.

Dipstick should be bolted via a single M8 bolt to thermostat housing - large alloy housing that is connected to the large water hose in your picture.

Just so you're aware, that airbag steering wheel wasnt standard, so it will NOT go off in a crash.

you say it has cruise control, I can see that on the steering wheel (part of the wheel) but surely you've tested it? and it doesnt work either..

I wouldn't be driving around with an unnecessary explosive device right in front of me.

I suspect insurance company would not be happy if declared as a modification (which of course you should do, as with all modifications.)

you know what, looking at that it has the cruise control actuator box in the engine bay.

Th standard cruise stalk goes through the cowling of the column, so whether thats been adapted to the steering wheel contol, who knows

it could work
