my mk1

Post by pistol pete »

Got this mk1 back in january.. and love it great little car
needs to be much faster but its great fun
here is its story so far
when i first got it
Image
Image
liked the sound but not sure on the look of the single exit exhaust

first problem
worried about a cable coming off the battery
Image
stripped back found it was this
Image
going then onto the starter motor

so changed that
Image
sorted

carried on using it
then this happened on the way home
Image
luckily my one from the mk2 i was scrapping fitted perfect so changed and sort..
after a while.. next up was a service ready for brands track day (everything but the leads)

but on the morning of the day it decide to cough and splutter, so used the bmw
got it some new magnacor leads.. and thats sorted too

shortly after my insurance ran out and it sat for a month looking sad..

so got some classic car insurance through footman james for 200£ ver happy with that..
a little meet with friends
Image
time to start play and modding ready for JAE
sarted looking around for parts and found Mik still had furrys old wheels for sale (these)
Image
soo off on a road trip to get them..
found he had a janspeed .. so some left him with money gone but a 2nd set of wheels and a new exhaust
also had some Lowering springs to fit, a set of WMS brakes too
as well as new drop links all round
so up in the air it went
Image
decide my current wheels are going to be its track wheels
but don't like them black
Image
(notice the small brakes on the front)
aimed and ready

so
on with new brakes, braided lines, drop links and lowering Apex springs, and exhaust
old one

the janspeed had been cut so my fabricator friend came round and now has this

Image
nice new big brakes
Image
on the floor it went and very pleased with the results.. after getting rid of the rust on the brakes its stops very well indeed..
sits nice too
but not happy with the front with out the valance which i can't fit as it has an a lower bumper.. soo looking to change it.

also fancy some whiteline ARB's, and polybush kit
