As some may already know, I've blown the engine on the AE86 again!
JAE is fast looming, so the pressure is on to get my car up and running again so I can drive it to JAE.
This weekend we drove to sunny Norwich and picked up another 4AGE (thanks, Phil and Vix!). I have a few parts to get from Toyota but it ought to be fairly straightforward.
Mark has a large workshop in Macclesfield (PM for details). Anyone who wants to drop by to say hello/get their hands dirty etc will be well fed and watered!
We are going to be pulling out the block and gearbox next Saturday and bolting the box up to a replacement engine. We are hoping we can do it in a couple of days really.
Obviously we always appreciate help and it's a good laugh normally. I'm a bit low on floorspace on Saturday though due to a lodger and a friend whom we organised a social with before we knew this was the weekend we were going to change the engine! If it runs into Monday we'll have floor/sofa space for Sunday night!
EDIT: Sofa space with free beer and curry now available.
The idea is, I get my car to JAE!
Cheers.

Ooh update. I do now have some sofa space.
Anyone who wishes to crash on our stonking sofa (it can easily sleep two) can expect an evening of car stuff and maybe the odd beer or two. I will feed and water you with the finest curry and beer known to man!
Damn, sofa already gone! That didn't take long!

Come along anyway, Alex, the more the merrier. It's always a good laugh and there will be plenty to do.
Seriously, this time, just come on the A523 (IIRC) from Stoke which you can pick up from Meir. Go through Wetley Rocks, Leek and Bosley, then Fools Nook (heading for Macc) just as you enter the 40mph zone turn left into Gaw End Lane and we are down there.

Re: Bearding party in Macclesfield Saturday 25-26th August
Cheers, Pete.
Well, we'll have a good old laugh I'm sure. Mark is going to go and get lots of food supplies to keep the army going and there'll be much tea and coffee drank as well as alcohol free beer amongst the workforce! Possibly some real beer for anyone not driving.
There's a fair bit to do and we'll break up in to two teams, one preparing the new engine for installation and the other removing the old block and gearbox.
We are replacing the big end shells just in case too. Think Mark will be on the techy stuff prepping the new engine, whilst I be doing the removal stuff as I know exactly what needs to be undone etc.
Good luck, Pete!
