Erratic idle MK1A

Hi All,

I had my MK1A out on an Old Skool Toyota run yesterday & all went fine except for an erratic idle when in neutral. I did about 200 miles yesterday & mostly the car idled ad 800 - 1000 revs but occasionally during the run, the idle dropped to 200 - 400 revs & the engine cut out. It doesn't happen all the time so not sure what is going on. Anyone gone a good idea what's going on.

Could be the throttle position sensor, my car got like that when the contact came loose.

Does it only happen with a hot engine? My car did the same. Probably wrong idle setting due to a knackered waxstat.

(Waxstat controls the iddle and since it's broken someone tried to compensate by setting the iddle to low.)

Manual choke conversion should fix it.

Yep, happens when really hot. Waxstat is fooked. I've done the dustcap modification !!. Doesn't happen all the time.
