[Mk2] [Turbo] Thickest Speaker Spacers Before Problems Occur With Door Card

Post by Pete_MR2 »

Hi all,

I'm needing to cut some speaker spacers but without cutting them and finding their too big I thought I'd ask if anyone knew what the biggest spacers in terms of thickness I could use before I encountered problem with having to modify the door cards. I've created the template for the spacer etc so I'm good with diameter and inside hole etc.

This is something I don't want to do as I'm going for the stock look inside the cabin.

Cheers

How do all... Thought I'd bring this post back to public attention ;-)

Ok, my speakers have a mounting depth of 60mm, would 20mm spacers be sufficient or should I go thicker?

Also - the speakers are Infinity Reference 6532i, has anyone installed these and if so... What spacers :-)

Thanks

Pete.

I am sure I used 20mm mdf for the spacers on my door's and they sat behind the door cards after I trimmed the plastic on the back of the speaker grilles have a look here http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... H4Fnf-f45A to see what I mean.

I used 24mm spacers with my Infinity 65.7cs speakers.

How much of the door have people normally had to cut up ? I've cut the ring, the yellowplug holder to the edge and seems iI need to cut some of the card.

Using 18mm spacers with infinity 6530cs.

Probably need to chop off some of the excess ring.
