[Mk2] [Turbo] Help with replacing stock front speakers and general set up

Post by Pete_MR2 »

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of cutting some spacers for a set of Infinity speakers that will fit into the original holes of the front speakers allowing me to keep the car looking as standard as possible.

I've changed the old head unit (tape player aaarrrggghhhh) to a Kenwood single cd player and was literally going to wire the speakers up with the existing wires, keeping the grey plug set up which is attached to the original speaker.

Would this be fine? I keep reading things about cross overs that I don't understand and tweeters which tbh I was just going to disconnect.

Can anyone please guide me in the wright direction?

Cheers

Standard cable will be fine.

A crossover is when you get a component speaker set with a separate tweeter a mid speaker. The crossover is a separate devices. On end wired to the headunit the one to tweeter other to the mid. It separates the frequency so that each speaker gets the frequency they are designed for.
