[Mk2] [Turbo] Loud exhaust

Post by polmac »

My turbo has a fujitsubo exhaust and decat, as to be expected its pretty loud, is there anyway to bung this system or quieten it down a bit ?

Wont be keeping it long if theres not cos the missus hates it haha

search for db killers on ebay or visit your local exhaust place and ask them for a db killer (bung) to quieten the exhaust, usually u shove it into talipipe and held in with 2 bolts,
otherwise only other solution is get a quieter exhaust

Kinda thought that would be the case with the short exhaust.

Dont really fancy getting the exhaust modified so will probably sell it on and go for something else and/or go back to a cat/sportscat .

Any body in the market for a fujitsubo standard fit

It's not really modifying the exhaust, bungs can be put in and out very easily and quickly, certainly a lot less hassle than changing the whole thing.

If it's one of these

Then you won't get much quieter on the MR2

Thats the one :D

It may be quiet for an mr2 exhaust but its still blinkin loud compared to most cars haha

I had a 3 " turbo back system on my scoob and it was quieter than this by a long way.

the only quieter ive come across is a tanabe hyper medallian, but you wont source one of those easily.

if its really bothersome then try a couple of bungs.

EBay have lots.
Don't worry too much about having to drill holes, a lot of exhausts come with these pre drilled anyway for bungs and they're hardly noticeable.

There must be something wrong with it then as they're quieter than stock at a certain rpm. Mine is really quiet, only noise I have really is tailpipe noise if you know what I mean.

Its the noise inside the cabin which is too much for the missus , its probably the engine being so close to your back which makes a difference.

I love it she hates it #-o
