Squeaky wiper blades

Post by StevieL »

Right!

I've tried swapping my wiper blades, cleaned the screen with good glass cleaner, two different types of washer fluid, but my wiper blades still squeak! This is getting very annoying now!

Anyone got any ideas on how to stop this?

Cheers

I've been told this works but never had to try it :thumleft:

Soak a cloth I warm water with lots of washing up liquid
Then rub the wiper blades with the cloth ... Job done
Apparently the oil and anti smear properties of washing up liquid mean it's perfect :thumleft:

You'd think it's make it worse, as a washed dish usually squeaks when running a finger over it? :-k

Heard of white vinegar too, but to be honest the best option I found was the Bosch wipers (not halfords) and they didn't squeak for at least 2-3 years use.

Just a wild stab in the dark, but have you tried raising both wipers clear of the screen and then running them? It might not be them squeeking on the glass, it might be one of the wheel boxes starting to seize....

Worth a shot :)

I have been told by older more knowledgeable people to clean the screen and the wipers then to cut a potatoe in half and rub it up and down the wiper blades (something to do with the starch).
Personally I use Rain-X on the screen (all windows and mirrors) and hardly ever use the wipers :)

Does rain-x actually work? I could be tempted to buy some :)

Yes Karl it really does work well I have used it for years as does the RainX anti fog for the interior which stops the windows misting up :)

Thanks for the heads up mate - I shall order some now :thumleft:
Not that the car goes out in the wet anyway, but it's better to be safe than sorry! Lol
