Radiator fans won't turn off

Post by GreddyMR2 »

Hi,

I have a problem that my radiator fans are always working, so I just disconnected them and now am afraid of overheating during hot summer days in traffic jams.

What should I check firstly? Maybe some relay or what? Problem appeared, when I swapped from N/A to Turbo.

Thanks!

My car does the same thing, no idea why . For the time being at least run one of the fans till you can get the problem fixed.

On my Rev 2 Turbo it was due to the previous owner having fitted an NA's Temperature Switch to the radiator, rather than the required Temperature Sensor. Because they both will fit in the radiator some people seem to assume they will both do the same job - as I discovered, they really don't.

Worth a check?

Thanks, it could be. Even I swapped radiator as well, but maybe it was also from n/a fitted to turbo.

No problem - the credit really has to go to Peter at SBITS, as without him having the spare temperature sensor to test it with it could have been quite costly. :)

have you done anything to your air conditioning system? If you have then thats a possible cause. If you havent likely to be the temp switch as said

Air conditioning was removed. So what should I do?

Is the main wire harness for your temperature sensor properly connected? It might as well be the fan relay.

if you have removed the air con then the front fans will always be on unless you bridge a connecter on the frunk.

I will did out a photo of how i did mine

you need to bridge that connector in the frunk but also the one that went to the temperature sensor in the air con radiator (part of the harness for the right fog light i think). Also if you have removed the air conditioning ECU (on top of the air con heat exchanger in the passenger footwell) then you will need to refit that i think
