Thought I'd change the name of this thread to Muttley, as the car has been christened

I'd been eyeing it up for a while, was parked up in same spot for a couple of years as far as I could see

Turned it had been driven, but only 10 miles since the last MOT !

Fuel guage wasn't working .. en route to MOT station a mile away it conked out, oh no - but right by a petrol station. Fuel in , away to go.

Failed MOT on emissions - I wasn't too worried ... put in a new set of plugs and it passed - with advisories on shocks, which turned out to be blown Ohlins, duly swapped for standard shocks and springs.

Chuffed with the car !

only 64k miles, 47k of which is in KM with full Japanese service history.

very clean throughout, totally solid with not a spec of rust on body.

Mechanically no probs except faulty fuel gauge.

Came with rusty Phoenix Power Departure 1 exhaust

Pictures not the best quality but gives an idea of condition, this was before it was washed and polished ...

Thought £5oo wasn't too badly spent here

what engine is it?

possible turbo because of the exhaust, but the lack of spoiler, na lid and G badge leads me to think NA? 3SGE or 3SFE?

detrimental to deciding whether a baragin or not.

I guess he lives in the real world.

My mate picked up a 64k REV3 Turbo for £1.5k It had been stored for 8 years. Everything suspension part still had the Toyota labels on it. Mint aint the word.

£500 for a REV2 N/A which needed a MOT is about what they go for.

So because your friend picked up a bargain it means this guy hasn't?!
I regularly watch car sales sites (on a daily basis) and im sorry but that is not the going rate for a low mileage rev 2 (even if it does need mot'd).
Case in point, go to gumtree, pistonheads or the sale sections of any mr2 forum and find me similar cars for the same money, as far as I can see there are none.

Amazing buy for a turbo, well done that man! An exceptional case though in my opinion.

Obviously I took a slight risk with no MOT, however it had only recently run out as I've stated it had only done 10 miles over 12 months.

Looking around the forum and on pistonheads / ebay for comparably cars I still think I had a good buy.

Actually I'm quite confused by the spec of this car myself!

electric windows with aircon and climate control

NO power steering?!!

I've gleaned it's history by bumping into the previous owner to the guy I bought it from and he says he bought it at 47000 km from an import company, whilst in his ownership the car was the same spec, just with a different exhaust. Tells me he cleaned / waxed the car literally every week :)
