Classics on the Common, Harpenden, Wednesday 25/07/12

Post by HighwayStar »

Howdy all.
Just a note to let you all know this years classics is again running as above from 2PM. Entries for vehicles over 20 years old cost only £6 and are available from the local Rotary club if you google the event. Foot entry is free though a donation to charity is appreciated.
I went with my rev1 last year and was parked amongst DB4s and 5s, E-types, F40s, 308s, 348s, 458s and Daytonas. Scattered about were 30s Bentleys, Lotus Esprits and a type 49, some very nice mk1s, some lovely cobras, yank tanks and all manner of bikes and trykes.
All set on Harpenden common with pubs on three sides and the high street eateries and shops a minutes walk. As is the station if you want to leave your post '92 2 at home.
Fabulous weather last year and a collection of machinery I've personally only seen bettered at Goodwood.
Come see.

R.

PS. Anyone else interested and liking the idea of an area for 2s to display together post up here and I'll ask in town if it's possible etc.

I will check my shift pattern and get back to you

It's a bit of a track for me but sounds like it will be worth it :thumleft:

I will try!

As you know I've got a rev1 so entrance for me is fine - just wondering for other users if the 20 year old thing is a must for show entrance?
Selling up my highly modified and restored Rev 1 V6 3.0 1MZ-FE VVTi

I think they're pretty keen on the 20 year thing... though as said there were newer things there last year... Gallardos and 458s and the odd Enzo for example but I think it needs to be very impressive if not old.

Just spoken with one of the committee who was very helpful. Though we can't reserve places if we arrive together they'll happily park us together.
1200 cars limit and nearly 1000 tickets sold in about 3 weeks. Get your skates on if you fancy it.

I'll hopefully be there late on in the afternoon as usual. If the weather is poor then I may give it a miss.

...as I said some fabulous machinery there last year...

PS. For anyone wanting to convoy in and park up together we can meet up at mine (Wheathampstead.... a 10 min drive from the common) and go from here if you fancy.

Also, had this email, not many spaces left!

Hi Ollie

Thanks for you e-mail.

There are spaces available at this year's event but attendance passes are selling fast with over 1050 of the 1200 available already taken. I recommend that you send in your application as soon as possible.

Kind regards
