[Mk2] [Generic] Carben fibre creations fibre glass doors

Post by b16hbg »

Hi all, looking at getting a set of these, just wondering if anyone has fitted them? My drivers door has started to rust so need to do something about it. They also come white, anyone know if this is the same white as white mr2s?

It isn't the same white as MR2's as far as i'm aware and i believe that they fit very well as do all of carben fibers stuff. :thumleft: Just remember to remove the crash protection from your current doors and get it fitted..

The white is just white gel coat. They will need painting to match your car :thumleft:

I'm intrigued about these doors. Are they actually safe? Carbon fibre shatters as some of you will know...

Presumably they are essentially fibreglass rather than dry carbon? Anybody know the weight difference?

With the crash bar in place they are quite safe.. remember alot of sports cars.. TVR's etc are entirely made of Fiberglass.

Weight difference I think is about 7kg a door, originals stripped weigh 12.5kg allegedly, these are 5kg stripped I think. My worry like you say is that they'll shatter. What happens if you slam the door too hard

It's fibreglass. It won't shatter when slamming a door.

I'd only fit them if you've got a cage with door bars.

Putting the bar in from the originals isn't going to do a thing.

Actually this is the main reason I never fitted mine as it's a street car and I didn't want to fit a heavy rollcage just to save weight on the doors, lol.

Of course it would make a decent weight saving for a track car that already had a cage though.

Yep, very pleased with the price

I've got a Rogue 6-point cage, so will go well.

And my 2GR-FE engine has arrived from the states, so I've got a busy year ahead in the garage!

I'm glad you said that- I couldn't work out why sticking the standard crash bars into a fibre glass door would make them safe, in a crash the door would just crush and the bars go with it. The only reason they work in a standard door is because they are welded in as an integral part :eye:
