Redex injector cleaner..

Post by vtecpower »

Hey people my mate sold his car and as he was clearing it out yesterday he found some redex injector cleaner it is a 500ml bottle but has 250ml he asked if I wanted it.

It says its suitable for turbo charged cars and safe for cats (don't even have 1 lol) do you think I should mix it in on a full tank of petrol on my rev2 tubby or stay clear from it?

Many thanks in advance

Pointless, all road fuels have a detergent element included to clean injectors.

redex was good for the old carb'd cars, pouring it in the intake always left a cloud of fog and crap expelled from the car.

I have heard a couple of horror stories regarding it destroying seals etc.. I watched some guy in an RS focus adding it to his car and it was just pouring out the bottom..

There are some cars where redex is not recommended. Ford Fiesta TDCI's are prone to problems with their seals with redex use.

Mr2's arent one of them - it should be ok.

I was told that the standard "fuelsave" is just petrol for the sake of it being petrol, you put it in your car it makes the car move. The more expensive stuff has all the rust inhibitors, detergents etc in. Ironically ESSO premo fuel has reddex pre-mixed in.

With the greatest of respect, you should possibly check manufacturer websites before making blanket claims. As above, even shell regular unleaded has detergent in it.
