Aerial compatability

Post by KerryN »

My friend has a MK3 and the aerial is broken. She wants to replace it but is apparently struggling to find one that states its actually for the MK3, so she wondered if the aerial of a MK2 is the same or not ?

Thanks in advance :thumleft:

It's not, and AFAIK the only aerial that does fit is the genuine mk3 item. What's actually broken? Is the mast snapped or is it that it doesn't go up and down any more, which is another common problem?

Breakers would be your best bet I think, but it's quite a solid ol' mechanism that sits under the wheelarch. I think there was a company that does sell the replacement toothed runner that you can feed in yourself, but I have no idea who or where they are, sorry :(

You can buy the new masts from ebay and fit one of those

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALE-AERIAL-M ... 19cff7d28f

or a second hand aerial

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-RO ... 3cc4a93c09

or you can buy this conversion kit

http://takubanmotorsports.com/index.php ... duct_id=69

or you can fit a Honda s2000 (cheaper than this though)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roof-Wing-mou ... 53eabbb4b3

or you can repair your original
