Rear lights - options
Hi all.
The previous owner of my mr2 has tinted my tail lights and I don't like the look. I have tried cellulose thinners, White spirit and petrol but that paint is stubborn!
Are there only one kind of tail lights for rev 3 > mr2? Factory I mean, not those gash lexus style items.
Thanks, stu.

There are two versions. Same look from the rear, but UK inners hade a refector for the fog light. JDM did not.
At night, JDM rears have all 4 red lenses equal size, UK cars have smaller inners.

One is the afterburner style and the other is a fuller led style...

Don't think the above were made by Toyota

You could try some cutting compound. Something a bit coarser than T-Cut.

If you end up searching for JDM lights, we may have some, but they are not cheap in comparison to UK lights as I am sure you noticed if you have been looking already.
As for my suggestions, granted, not Toyota, but certainly both options look far better than the Lexus options. Both were made by Rogue and very good quality.

Are you serious? Granted, Rogue's front lights are one of the best mods around, but their rear lights were awful! For starters they didn't fit, and quality of finish was terrible.

To be fair, there's not much difference in price between UK and JDM rev3 tail lights.
The majority of people probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway.
Re: Rear lights - options
DB8 from MR2OC.com hooked me up with my gen3+ tail lights. Think it was $470usd shipped. All new OEM Toyota. Both lights, my choice of centre panel colour, new MR2 emblem for centre panel, the L brackets, new amber triangles, reversing lights and a s/h '94+ boot lock that I got my local locksmith to re-key to match my existing key.
Fitted them up this weekend

I bought JDM rear lights brand new from a UK Toyota dealership.
Think it was £150 (or £160 including the looms, which are £20 each ).

Re: Rear lights - options
thanks everyone.
i will t-cut them, and try that. and then price up new items from toyota, and look for second hand ones if the new ones are too much. (knowing toyota, they will be!)
thanks for the replies and help everyone, stu.

Hi Stu
Rather than T-Cut try Meguiars Plast RX
Its a little more gentle but does a great job, on a foam pad took me about 15mins each side mine look like new.
