[Mk2] [Turbo] where's best to get a ct20b rebuilt?

Post by djpkins »

I'm thinking of getting my ct20b rebuilt...I'm not to sure about having it staged up, I would've thought a ct26 would make a better hybrid...but am not sure, hence the thread...who's running what ct from where?

I had a ct26 hybrid and it made 280bhp and ft/lb with just an exhaust and link ecu running 0.9bar as we had boost issue at this point.

I personally think a ct20b would make a better choice, less stress on the unit.

Consequently I have a low mileage ct20b standard for sale in excellent condition should it be needed.

Sorry for the sales pitch.

Ct20b turbos are a real pain, once the bearings go the comp wheel rubs on the housing and there are no replacments for them

Check it out, take the comp cover off and see it it has marks on it. I have got the rebuild kits if you want to do it yourself.

My old blitz K1-380 was basically a hybrid ct20b and i got that re-furb'd at turbo technics (iirc, will check) and they fitted a new bearing, polished up all the compressor blades as there was some chips, stripped and cleaned everything, replaced all seals and balanced it to 100,000 rpm (iirc) and it cost me something like £250

this particular ct20 has chipped teeth, so it will need a new comp whell anyhow...i was hoping that I could hand it over and purchase another unit.
