Good effort Luke, nice to see it being driven properly! :thumleft:

I love the challenge. Drifting front engined RWD is too easy. I want to try drifting a 911 as my next challenge. It's a lottery win away though.

Cheers all \:D/

Im trying to get things sorted out for a go at Skegness stadium on the 26/03 (only £30 this time) if not I will have to wait until late April for the next Norfolk date :(

Would happily recommend it to people to have a go, you will learn more about car control in a day for £40 than you will in a year on public roads.

Will keep this thread updated with future days :)

I also took my old mk2 to Norfolk a couple of times and to compare the 2 I would say that I had better turn in on my mk2 but that it was more difficult to keep it balanced and it was more sensitive to rear tyre sidewall stiffness. It also had much more roll at the rear.

Went to Skegness Stadium this weekend with Norfolk Drift Team and had a blast.

Definitely made another step up from my last time out at Norfolk and just had so much seat time and a track to myself :D

Grippy track and open diff lead to an early casualty

One tire fire lol had to get the hang of going the other way around to even it out for future laps. All in all I manged to eat 5 tyres this time out.

After last Norfolk day I had to make a very expensive and critical drift modification:

Anyway enough poo, more pictures:

The above are from Skegness Stadium Drift Day 24/03/2012 - AmmoPhotography so thanks again for those :D

Had to leave a bit early as engine was struggling with the 7k punishment

As I topped it up, the oil turned to steam :O

Its been a long day

I should make mention really that thanks to Woodsport for supplying me with 8 new rubber washers FOC to fix the leaks above, turns out I didnt have any sealing washers at all.

Image

I have also had to fix the air filter as the car came with the kn style filter jubilee clipped straight to a silicone hose which flew off mid lap..

My engine bay also gets very very hot, im not sure whether its more due to exhaust leaks or if the engine cover is too restrictive. Going to run it without a cover in future to stop it getting so hot, new airfilter position should get more cold air either way :) (now sits about 4-6" above the driveshaft it lovely clean air

For anybody reading this I would strongly recommend the filter relocation. Its made a very noticeable difference even on fast road driving :)

Great that you are carrying on, drifting the MK1. Top marks! :+:

Just a word of warning about the filter location. Might be worth checking you aren't at risk of water ingression.

I did have a look and im pretty sure its okay, its 4-6" above the bottom of the engine bay, i.e. it doesnt stick out the bottom and is protected by the sides of the bay. I dare say it will get a little bit when its raining but shouldnt anything too bad :)
