Ive seen some people on here have dual engine fans which attach to the inside of the engine lid. I presume that this replaces the rain tray?
Im looking at installing a set to my car, however where can I buy them from and how much should I expect to pay?
Thanks

Re: Dual engine lid fans???
I'm sure that they can offer some increased cooling, but I can see two issues - no rain tray so things are going to get wet that shouldn't be. And surely having two big fans whizzing away behind your head all the time is going to be annoying.

Depends on the kit.

Not many of my customers have them on all the time. Normally only on when stationary but engine running.
Re: Dual engine lid fans???
I'm currently making my own fan kit.. they are quite expensive because the fans come in rather expensive if you buy spal.
I'm going to wire mine up to the regular engine fan and have an overide.

Re: Dual engine lid fans???
I like the look of the dual spal fans and stainless steel cover ... but they are a lot of money and hard to come by at under £200
For a cheaper option which is more OEM I'm tempted to try and do the following:

If I ever get round to fitting an engine lid fan, thats the way I would go about doing it.
Oem rain tray with a spal fan tucked in looks tidy to me.

Thanks for the heads up mate.
I'd already sent them a few questions but they haven't responded. I've contacted them again, but I fear there will be no response again.
The hunt continues I guess.
I'm still in two minds as to weather to mount a fan between the lid plates or just replace the rain tray with a whole new unit. Obviously the latter would be a lot more straight forward if I can find one at a decent price.
Any idea which fan would work best if it was individually mounted in the engine lid?
Also how would it be held secure inside?

Re: Dual engine lid fans???
I too am tempted to purchase an engine lid fan kit, but the rain problem is really putting me off the idea. i don't want to lose the fabled reliability!
As far as I see all the kits are much of a muchness and all will let the rain in an equal amount...

Why go for dual fans.
We stock the Spal fan that fits under the OEM engine lid. ATS Racing have been doing the mod for years!

Re: Dual engine lid fans???
Is this purely for looks? as i thought as you drive the air flows in threw the side and up out the lid, taking heat away. plus there is already a fan in the engine bay

It isn't purely for looks, it sucks in cool air from outside to replace the hot air in the engine bay. Apparently its meant to make the engine up to 4 degrees cooler.
I want an additional fan for longer journeys (although I'll have it on a manual switch). Its also there as a fail-safe should the engine fan break.

Re: Dual engine lid fans???
Funny but I thought Mr T engineered them quite well as is... The one tucked under the rain kid looks good though and I suppose cooler is always better but is it really a priority?

I would have thought it would do the opposite to this - i.e. suck the hot air out from within the engine bay.
Surely if it was to suck cool air in, it would conflict with the cool air being sucked in from the side vent panels. In a similar fashion to how a universally criticised TOM's scoop 'works'...
